Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about sugaring hair removal, our services, and
what to expect at Sugarmama's Beauty Collab.

What is sugaring and how is it different from waxing?

Sugaring is an ancient hair removal technique using a paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. Unlike wax, sugar paste only adheres to dead skin cells and hair, not live skin, making it gentler and less painful. It's also applied at room temperature, eliminating burn risk, and removes hair in the natural direction of growth for better results.

How should I prepare for my sugaring appointment?

Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long (about 2-3 weeks of growth). Avoid exfoliating, sun exposure, or using retinoid products 24-48 hours before your appointment. Come clean and avoid lotions or oils on the treatment area. If you're concerned about discomfort, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment.

What should I expect during my first Brazilian sugaring?

Your first appointment may take 30-45 minutes as we discuss your comfort level and preferences. You'll undress from the waist down and our esthetician will guide you through positioning. The process involves applying sugar paste and removing it in small sections. Most clients find it less painful than expected, especially compared to waxing. We maintain your privacy and comfort throughout the entire service.

How long do results lasts and when should I book my next appointment?

Results typically last 3-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. For best results, we recommend booking your next appointment 4-6 weeks after your first visit. Regular sugaring actually trains your hair to grow back finer and sparser over time, so maintenance becomes easier and less frequent.

What is a proper aftercare following a sugar appointment

For 24 hours after your appointment, avoid hot baths, saunas, tight clothing, excessive sweating, and sun exposure. After 24 hours, gently exfoliate 2-3 times per week to prevent ingrown hairs. Moisturize daily with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion. Avoid shaving between appointments to maintain the hair growth cycle.

Is sugaring safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! Sugaring is ideal for sensitive skin because the paste only adheres to dead skin cells and hair, not live skin. The all-natural ingredients (sugar, lemon, water) are hypoallergenic and suitable for most skin types. However, if you have specific skin conditions or concerns, please discuss them with us during your consultation.

Do you offer services for the men?

Absolutely! We offer comprehensive sugaring services for men, including back, chest, shoulders, and other body areas. Men's hair tends to be coarser, so we adjust our technique accordingly. All appointments are conducted with the same level of professionalism and discretion as our women's services.

What are your hygiene and safety protocols

We maintain the highest hygiene standards with single-use sugar paste for each client (no double-dipping), fresh disposable gloves, sanitized tools and surfaces, and hospital-grade disinfection between appointments. Our studio is regularly inspected and we exceed all state health department requirements for personal care services.

Do you offer package deals & discounts?

Yes! We offer several package deals that combine popular services for cost savings. For example, our Essential Smooth Package includes full legs, underarms, and Brazilian for $195 (save $20). We also offer loyalty programs for regular clients. Contact us or check our services page for current package offerings.

Can I get sugared during pregnancy?

Sugaring is generally safe during pregnancy as it uses all-natural ingredients and doesn't involve chemicals. However, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider first, especially for intimate areas. Many pregnant clients find sugaring more comfortable than shaving during pregnancy. Please inform us if you're pregnant when booking.

How can I minimize discomfort during my appointment?

Sugaring is significantly less painful than waxing, but here are tips to minimize discomfort: avoid caffeine before your appointment, take an over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes prior, schedule appointments for after your menstrual cycle when skin is less sensitive, and communicate with your esthetician about your comfort level.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We require 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Same-day cancellations may be subject to a fee. We understand emergencies happen, so please call us as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment. No-shows will be charged the full service amount.
